Yeah, and then there would be vast hospital camps full of people

flamethrowers, and alien vegetation transfiguring the landscape, and
weird biosculptures made out of melded fragements of animals and
plants, and clouds of alien spores, and vast peristaltic networks of
veins carrying nutrients everywhere, and colony organisms, and rivers
would be choked with mutant algae, and the seas would become
biolumenescent, and...
