Synthetic Life

Recently there have been rapid advances in the field of artificial morphogenesis (or synthetic life as it is commonly known): the process of growing systems in a similar way to the construction of biological structures. This field is still in its infancy, but there would seem to be nothing to prevent growing macroscopic objects from cell-sized nanoclusters. There are many difficult problems to be overcome in this area, but it can already be seen that morphogenetic technology will have a profound effect on all aspects of life.
