Index History Sol System Archipelago Technology Notes

Hellish Venus orbits Sol at a mean distance of 0.723 AU. The atmosphere, consisting mostly of carbon dioxide, is extremely dense, giving a surface pressure 94 times greater than that of Earth. The planet is shrouded with clouds of sulphuric and hydrochloric acid and the mean surface temperature is 480C, making the world extremely hostile to life.

The only settlements at Venus are a pair of orbital stations: a climatological research centre jointly run by Mitsubishi and the European Science Foundation, and an outpost of the only semi-serious Venus Terraformation Project. The later also maintains an extensive automated outpost near Cleopatra Patera in the northern highlands of Ishtar Terra.
