Eurasian Hegemony

Geographical polities decayed throughout the 22nd century. The AAS economy seemed poised to enter a second century of gradual but inexorably decline. The United Nations became an ever greater misnomer, as nations disappeared and it came to represent Eurasia and the Transnats.

Remaining national governments followed one of two paths; some followed the example of Indonesia and allowed themselves to be bought out by a single Transnat in the pursuit of jobs. Others, like Japan, dissolved under the weight of Corp power until eventually they only made the rules that governed the game, and the laws that applied to individual citizens.

The Eurasian Federation became essentially the only government on Earth. There were still many nations outside the Eurasian borders, of course, but these were either insignificantly small, or utterly dominated by the EF or corporate interests. For the first time a single nation, a Monobloc, had fulfilled the dream of kings and emperors, of parliaments and presidents.

From the time of the Eurasian intervention in the Chinese civil war until the end of the century, the Federation enforced a Pax Europa. The early years of the Eurasian hegemony were a Golden Age in the solar system: the people of Earth were happier than at any other time in history, war was almost unknown, and Earth-Belt cooperation was sending ships to the stars.
